Former Barclays CEO Jes Staley Testifies Before Congress on Epstein Ties
Jes Staley, former CEO of Barclays, testified before a U.S. congressional panel regarding his past connections with Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender. Staley, who previously worked at JPMorgan Chase, maintained that his relationship with Epstein was not close, despite evidence suggesting otherwise. The House committee on oversight and reform is investigating Epstein's network and has interviewed several high-profile individuals. Staley's ties with Epstein led to his resignation from Barclays in 2021 after UK regulators launched an investigation. The Financial Conduct Authority found that Staley's relationship with Epstein was closer than he had admitted, resulting in a ban from the UK financial sector.
