Albuquerque Police Department Hosts National Night Out to Strengthen Community Ties
The Albuquerque Police Department (APD) is organizing over 100 National Night Out events across the city to foster community relations and enhance public safety. These events, taking place at various locations such as parks, churches, and community centers, aim to bring together residents and law enforcement in a positive setting. Activities include block parties, potlucks, picnics, and school supply drives. National Night Out, which began in 1984, is a nationwide initiative designed to improve relationships between communities and law enforcement. The event has grown significantly, now involving over 16,000 communities and reaching more than 38 million people annually. APD's Crime Prevention Unit is the main sponsor, with officers attending to engage with residents.
