FAA Investigates Incident Involving Trump's Helicopter and Commercial Plane at Reagan National
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating an incident where a commercial aircraft was allowed to take off from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport while President Trump's helicopter, Marine One, was approaching. This event occurred as Trump was traveling from the White House to Andrews Air Force Base. Although officials stated that the aircraft were not on a collision course and the president was never in danger, the incident has raised concerns about adherence to safety procedures implemented after a fatal midair collision in January 2025. Both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are gathering information, with the FAA having launched a preliminary investigation. The commercial jet took off as Marine One was approaching, resulting in a 'momentary loss of separation' between the aircraft. The White House assured that Trump was never at risk, and the US Marine Corps confirmed there were no 'close calls.'
