This measure, aimed at protecting children from inappropriate content, mandates users to provide proof of age, potentially through government-issued identification. The policy extends beyond adult content sites to include platforms like Google, Coursera, and news outlets. Critics argue that this approach compromises user privacy and anonymity, as it necessitates the collection of sensitive personal data. Despite assurances from age verification providers about data security, past breaches have exposed vulnerabilities, raising concerns about the misuse of personal information.
