UTSA Takes Services Offline Following Attempted Cybersecurity Breach
The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) detected unauthorized activity targeting its technology systems over the weekend, prompting the university to take some services offline as a precautionary measure. The attempted cybersecurity breach occurred just days before classes are scheduled to begin on Wednesday. According to a news release from UTSA, the activity was identified and contained before it could compromise the university's core systems. The university has stated that it does not believe any university data was accessed or stolen during the incident. As a result of the security response, some student deadlines have been adjusted, including the payment due date, which is now Friday, August 21, and the end of waitlisting for courses, which is Wednesday, August 19. Registration remains open through myUTSA, and the university is actively monitoring its systems.
