Wildfire Smoke Puts Northwest Air at Risk Again
Wildfires will continue fueling hazardous air quality across eastern Washington, eastern Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming this week as smoke spreads from active fires. Nearly 2.4 million acres are actively burning in Washington and Oregon. Shifting winds should keep the worst smoke away from Seattle and Portland, improving conditions along the I-5 corridor. However, dry weather, gusty winds and intense heat will keep wildfire danger dangerously high across the Northwest, with little relief expected in the coming weeks.
