Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism to Promote Fishery-Centered Blue Economy with JICA Collaboration
The Caribbean region is actively pursuing projects to advance its blue economy, with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) playing a significant role. JICA is developing a strategy centered on co-benefits and knowledge sharing to drive this initiative. This strategy involves several stages: first, developing concrete examples through pilot activities; second, extracting and accumulating knowledge, including best practices and lessons learned, into a comprehensive database; third, facilitating knowledge sharing through seminars and workshops to foster multilateral cooperation among governments, donors, international organizations, and public-private-academic sectors; and fourth, developing an international strategy to promote the blue economy.
