St. Louis Metropolitan Sewer District Offers Grants for Rainscaping to Homeowners
The Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) of St. Louis is providing financial incentives to homeowners to implement rainscaping techniques that manage stormwater runoff. The MSD Rainscaping Small Grants program reimburses single-family households up to $4,000 for adopting methods such as permeable pavers and native plants with deep roots. Bridget Reddick, a resident near Tower Grove Park, utilized the program to transform her backyard, reducing rainwater flow into the storm system. Jenna Jarvis, MSD's green infrastructure manager, emphasizes the program's dual benefits for homeowners and the sewer system, particularly in older neighborhoods with limited capacity.
