Expanded WIC Eligibility to Benefit More Michigan Families
The Michigan Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program has updated its income eligibility guidelines, allowing more families to qualify for benefits. The changes, prompted by federal guidelines, mean that a family of four can now qualify with an annual income of up to $61,050, an increase of over $1,500. The WIC program, administered by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), provides essential support such as supplemental foods, nutrition education, and health referrals to low- and moderate-income pregnant women, new mothers, and young children. The program aims to improve health outcomes by reducing infant mortality and increasing immunization rates.
