Oscar Statuette for Documentary on Putin Goes Missing During Flight
The Oscar statuette awarded to Russian director Pavel Talankin for the documentary 'Mr. Nobody Against Putin' has gone missing during a flight from New York to Germany. Talankin, who won the award for best documentary in 2026, was forced to check the statuette into hold luggage at John F. Kennedy International Airport. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents deemed the 3.8 kg award a potential security threat, according to Talankin's co-director, David Borenstein. The Oscar was placed in a box and sent to the plane's cargo hold, but it did not arrive in Frankfurt. Lufthansa, the airline responsible for the flight, has stated that they are taking the matter seriously and are working to locate the missing Oscar.
