The city experienced a dramatic rise in the rankings, moving from 97th place last year to second this year. The report attributes this shift to increasing pollen levels, longer allergy seasons, and weather patterns such as atmospheric rivers and warmer temperatures. Residents have reported worsening symptoms, including nasal congestion, itchy eyes, and respiratory discomfort. Experts suggest that the West Coast, including San Diego, is seeing more frequent pollen spikes due to these environmental changes.
