Will County Zoning Commission Rejects Solar Farm Proposal, Awaits County Board Decision
The Will County Planning and Zoning Commission has once again voted against a proposal for a large-scale solar farm. The commission's 4-1 decision opposes Earthrise Energy's plan to develop a 6,100-acre, 600-megawatt solar farm near Manhattan, Illinois. This proposal will now be reviewed by the Will County Board's executive committee, with a final vote expected on May 21. The project has faced repeated rejections, reflecting ongoing debates over land use and renewable energy development in the region.
