On May 19, 2026, Instagram users across the United States reported significant issues with the app. According to Downdetector, a platform that tracks service outages, nearly 2,010 users experienced problems with Instagram just before 3 p.m. ET. The reports of outages began around 2 p.m. ET, with the majority of issues reported in major cities such as New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. USA TODAY reached out to Meta, Instagram's parent company, for more information regarding the outage.
