Gulf Coast Prepares for Heavy Rain with Sandbag Distribution Sites
Ahead of potential heavy rainfall from a plume of deep, tropical moisture moving north from the western Caribbean, several sandbag distribution locations have opened along the central Gulf Coast. Residents in South Mississippi, specifically in D’Iberville, Gulfport, Long Beach, and Biloxi, are being provided with sandbags to help mitigate potential flooding. The D’Iberville Marina, D’Iberville Work Center, Harrison County Road Department, Orange Grove Work Center, Lyman Work Center, and the Long Beach Work Center are among the sites. Gulfport locations will distribute sandbags from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through the weekend, with a limit of 10 sandbags per household. Residents are advised to bring their own shovels for filling the bags.
