Luigi Mangione's Federal Trial Rescheduled Amid Legal Challenges
Luigi Mangione's federal trial, related to the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, has been rescheduled from September to October. U.S. District Judge Margaret Garnett moved the jury selection to October 5, with the trial set to begin on October 26. This decision was made to avoid a scheduling conflict with Mangione's state trial, which has been postponed to September. Mangione's defense team argued that preparing for both trials simultaneously would be burdensome, but the request to delay the federal trial until early 2027 was denied. Mangione, who faces life imprisonment if convicted, has pleaded not guilty.
