Sunny Day in Cairngorms: A Rare Break from Cloudy Weather
After a month of overcast skies, the Cairngorms in Scotland experienced a rare sunny day, prompting outdoor enthusiasts to take advantage of the clear weather. According to The Guardian, hikers chose to ascend Sgòr Gaoith, a prominent peak on the western edge of the Cairngorms. The journey began in a Scots Pine forest, where the sunlight filtered through the trees, creating a picturesque setting. As the hikers climbed higher, they encountered patches of snow that had partially melted and refrozen, forming a mosaic of ice and water. The summit, known as the 'Peak of the Wind' in Gaelic, offered breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, including the Great Moss, Glen Einich, and the forests of Rothiemurchus and Glenmore.
