NASA and NOAA to Highlight Commercial Satellite Data at 2027 AMS Symposium
NASA and NOAA are set to co-host a joint session at the 23rd Symposium on Operational Environmental Satellite Systems during the 2027 American Meteorological Society (AMS) Annual Meeting, scheduled for January 10-14 in Denver, Colorado. The session, titled 'Advancing Weather and Environmental Science Through NASA and NOAA Commercial Satellite Data Programs,' will focus on the growing role of commercial Earth observation providers in advancing weather research, operational forecasting, and environmental science. NASA's Commercial Satellite Data Acquisition (CSDA) program and NOAA's National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) Commercial Data Program (CDP) are collaborating to expand federal access to commercial satellite data. These programs aim to integrate diverse datasets, such as optical imagery, Synthetic Aperture Radar, and Global Navigation Satellite System Radio Occultation, into research and operational applications, enhancing weather forecasting and environmental monito...
