Vice President Radhakrishnan Commends Sikkim's Organic Character at Statehood Day Event
Vice President of India, C. P. Radhakrishnan, praised Sikkim for its environmental sustainability and social harmony during the 51st Statehood Day celebrations in Gangtok. He highlighted Sikkim's identity as not only organic in agriculture but also in character, emphasizing the simplicity, discipline, and values of its people. Despite challenging weather conditions, Radhakrishnan traveled by road and observed the everyday life of Sikkim's residents, describing them as sober, disciplined, and respectful. The event, attended by state leaders including Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and Governor Om Prakash Mathur, celebrated Sikkim's progress in governance, environmental conservation, and cultural preservation since its integration into the Indian Union.
