Maryland Settles with Ship Owner Over Bridge Collapse Incident
The state of Maryland has reached a settlement with Grace Ocean Private Limited and Synergy Marine Pte Ltd., the owner and operator of the M/V Dali, regarding the 2024 collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. The settlement resolves claims by Maryland and its agencies, including the Maryland Transportation Authority and the Maryland Department of the Environment, against the vessel interests. However, it does not address claims against the shipbuilder, Hyundai. The incident, which resulted in the deaths of six construction workers and significant economic disruption, was attributed to negligence and mismanagement.
