Saugus High Football Team Organizes Community Food Drive to Support Local Pantry
The Saugus High School football team, led by junior tight end Ryker Wixom, is organizing a community food drive scheduled for Saturday. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon in the school parking lot, where the team will set up tables to collect canned goods and other non-perishable items. The initiative is supported by the team's coach, Jason Bornn, and aims to gather donations for the Santa Clarita Food Pantry, which will send a truck to collect the donated items. This effort replaces the team's participation in a passing tournament, as they choose to focus on community service ahead of their official practice season starting on Monday. Wixom, who initiated the project, expressed the importance of making a positive impact in the community through such activities.
