Tour de France Final Stage Shortened Due to Wildfires in France
The final stage of the Tour de France has been shortened and rerouted due to wildfires in the southwest of France. The traditional stage in Paris was reduced from 133km to 89km, starting on the Champs-Elysees instead of Thoiry. This decision was made to allow emergency services to focus on combating the blazes, particularly in the Gironde region. The Ministry of the Interior has redeployed security forces initially assigned to the race to assist with the wildfire response. Over 267,000 people have been evacuated due to the fires, and Bordeaux airport has been closed.
