The primary election saw both incumbent Senator Sullivan and former Representative Mary Peltola (D-Alaska) projected to advance to the general election. Additionally, retired teacher Dan J. Sullivan, also sharing the same name, appears poised to make the cut, despite some votes still being counted. GOP critics have labeled the retired teacher as 'Decoy Dan,' alleging he is a Democratic plant intended to confuse voters. The retired teacher admitted to voting for the Democratic presidential candidate in the last three elections but maintains he is a moderate Republican.
