Great White Shark Sightings Increase Near Maine's Scarborough Beach
Several great white sharks have been observed near Pine Point Beach in Scarborough, Maine. According to the Scarborough Police Department, five to seven sharks were spotted via drone on Wednesday, following two sightings on Tuesday. The sharks are believed to be attracted to the area by baitfish and seals. While there have been no reports of aggressive behavior towards swimmers or boaters, authorities are advising beachgoers to remain vigilant, stay close to shore, and heed lifeguard instructions. This increase in shark sightings is notable as the Maine coast is at the northern edge of the great white shark's range.
