PNNL and Amazon Collaborate to Enhance Grid Resilience with AI Tools
The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) has partnered with Amazon Web Services to develop advanced AI tools aimed at improving the reliability, security, and affordability of the U.S. electric grid. This collaboration supports the Department of Energy's Genesis Mission, which seeks to strengthen U.S. leadership in AI-powered science. The partnership focuses on addressing challenges such as severe weather, rising electricity demand, and cyber threats. PNNL will leverage its Enhanced Visibility & Event Response (EVE@PNNL) capability to develop real-time AI-driven analytics and novel sensing tools. The initiative aims to improve situational awareness, reduce operator burden, and enhance grid resilience.
