Gunfire Erupts Near Seattle Mayor's Event, Sparking Safety Concerns
Gunfire was reported near a community event attended by Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson in the Yesler Terrace neighborhood. The incident occurred at the Yesler Community Center, where Mayor Wilson was present to announce new investments in Seattle's children and families. No injuries were reported, but the gunfire caused property damage, including to the building and glass doors. Witnesses reported seeing three to four suspects fleeing the scene in a dark-colored sedan. The Seattle Police Department is investigating the incident, and no arrests have been made. Mayor Wilson emphasized the need for continued investment in public safety and opportunities to prevent such violence.
