Singaporean Authorities Extinguish Container Fire on Evergreen Boxship, Preventing Casualty
On Friday, Singaporean authorities successfully responded to a fire aboard the container ship Ever Lenient at the PSA Pasir Panjang Terminal. The Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) was alerted to the blaze involving cargo containers on the boxship, which is owned and operated by Taiwan's Evergreen Marine Corporation. The Singapore Civil Defense Force led the marine firefighting response, with assistance from terminal operator PSA Singapore and the MPA. The responders worked overnight to extinguish the fire, ensuring all crew members were accounted for and no injuries were reported. Cooling operations continued to prevent the chance of a reflash, and the MPA maintained active surveillance using drones. Port operations were not affected during the response, and an investigation into the circumstances of the fire is underway.
