Boston's Logan Airport recently held an open casting call to find a new public-address announcer, seeking an authentic local voice to welcome visitors. Hundreds of individuals lined up at Terminal A for the opportunity to read a prepared script highlighting Boston's characteristics. Rich Davey, who heads Massport, the agency overseeing Logan, stated the goal is to have a more distinctive Boston voice that can both welcome people and provide instructions for navigating the airport. Participants expressed varying opinions on what constitutes a true 'Boston voice,' with some emphasizing the traditional Boston accent, while others, like Anthony Smith of Boston, highlighted the city's diverse cultures and voices, suggesting a 'new Boston' identity. The event drew enthusiastic individuals, including Elizabeth Thomas, who came fully adorned in Red Sox and Dunkin' gear, and Benjamin Rabinovitz, who was inspired by his late mother's encouragement to take leaps of faith.
