Owen Canyon Fire Burns 20 Acres in Northern Utah
A wildfire, named the Owen Canyon Fire, has ignited in Box Elder County, Utah, burning 20 acres of land in Chokecherry Canyon, southwest of Corinne. Initially reported as 50 acres, the fire's size was later revised to 20 acres. The fire was first discovered on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at approximately 7:45 p.m. in the Fort Ranch/Messix Peak area. As of Sunday morning, the fire remains at 0% containment, though officials have confirmed that its growth has been halted. The fire is burning in rugged terrain, necessitating the use of heavy equipment and aviation resources to combat the flames. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but preliminary reports suggest it may have been ignited by natural causes (KUTV, 2026).
