Early-Phase Trial of Cevostamab Shows Promise for Multiple Myeloma Treatment
A phase I clinical trial has shown that the investigational bispecific antibody cevostamab can reduce cancer in over 40% of patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. The trial, involving 324 patients, demonstrated a median duration of response of 11.2 months. Cevostamab targets the FcRH5 protein on plasma cells, activating T cells to attack myeloma. The study, published in Nature Medicine, highlights cevostamab's potential as a new treatment option, especially for patients who have undergone multiple prior treatments. The trial also explored a fixed-duration treatment approach, contrasting with indefinite treatment regimens.
