Wellsville Municipal Airport Awarded $1.6 Million in Federal Funding for Upgrades
The Wellsville Municipal Airport/Tarantine Field Airport has been awarded over $1.6 million in federal funding for ongoing facility upgrades. This grant is part of a larger $33.7 million package distributed to several New York airports through the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP). The funding will specifically support the rehabilitation of 5,700 feet of existing paved Taxiway A, aiming to maintain its structural integrity and minimize foreign object debris, thereby extending its useful life. This grant represents the final phase of the construction project. U.S. Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, along with Rep. Nick Langworthy, announced the grant awards, emphasizing the importance of strong aviation infrastructure for connecting communities and supporting local businesses.
