Extreme Heat Wave Sweeps Across Western U.S., Raising Wildfire Concerns

This weather pattern is resulting in temperatures up to 20 degrees above normal, with cities like Palm Springs, California, reaching 117 degrees. The National Weather Service has issued heat alerts, warning of the increased risk of wildfires, especially in drought-stricken areas. The heat wave is expected to persist, with above-average temperatures likely to continue into mid-August.
