Sylvia Corbitt Hooks Passes Away at 82, Leaving a Legacy in Georgia
Sylvia Corbitt Hooks, a resident of Swainsboro, Georgia, passed away on May 4, 2026, at the age of 82. Her death was announced by Kennedy Funeral Homes. Sylvia was born in Brunswick, Georgia, and grew up in Willacoochee before moving to Nashville, Georgia. She graduated from Berrien County High School and attended Young Harris College. Sylvia pursued a career as an X-Ray Technician in Macon, Georgia. In 1963, she married Donald Jordan Hooks, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage until his passing in 2013. Sylvia was actively involved in the family businesses, Hooks Milling Company and Hooks Secure Storage, and was a member of the New Hope Primitive Baptist Church. She is remembered for her captivating personality and dedication to her family. Sylvia is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as her siblings. A visitation is scheduled for May 6, 2026, with a funeral service on May 7, 2026, at Hooks Chapel - Kennedy Funeral Home.
