Israeli Biological Therapy Shows Promise in Alzheimer's Treatment
An Israeli-developed biological therapy aimed at restoring the immune system's ability to protect the brain has demonstrated a favorable safety profile in its first human trial. The therapy, known as IBC-Ab002, is based on research by Professor Michal Schwartz from the Weizmann Institute of Science. Unlike most Alzheimer's treatments that target amyloid plaques, IBC-Ab002 focuses on restoring immune functions that decline with age. The trial involved 40 patients with early-stage Alzheimer's disease across medical centers in the UK, Israel, and the Netherlands. Results showed the treatment was safe and well-tolerated, with biological activity matching its design and reducing biomarkers associated with neuronal damage.
