India Achieves Self-Reliance in Defense Manufacturing, Expands Opportunities
India has transitioned from being an 'import denial nation' to achieving self-reliance in defense manufacturing, according to Binay Kumar Das, Director General of Electronics and Communication Systems at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Speaking at a convocation in Bengaluru, Das highlighted India's efforts to strengthen domestic defense production through more than 500 negative import lists. He encouraged students to contribute to national development through innovation and science. The event also featured Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot, who urged students to be responsible citizens amid global challenges such as climate change and social inequality. The university awarded numerous degrees and honorary doctorates, emphasizing the importance of education in national progress.
