California Launches $3,500 Instant EV Rebates for First-Time Buyers
California has introduced a new incentive program offering a $3,500 instant rebate for first-time electric vehicle (EV) buyers purchasing new EVs from Tesla, Hyundai, or Lucid. Governor Gavin Newsom announced the program, which is part of a $135 million allocation in the state budget aimed at promoting EV adoption. The program also includes a $1,750 discount for used EVs. The rebates are available for new EVs priced at $50,000 or less and used EVs priced at $25,000 or less. The initiative is designed to help California achieve its electric vehicle and air quality goals, especially after the federal government, under President Trump, eliminated a $7,500 tax incentive for new EVs.
