Iowa Sales Tax Holiday Excludes Key Back-to-School Items
Iowa's annual sales tax holiday is underway, offering consumers relief from sales tax on certain items from August 7 to August 8. However, the tax exemption does not apply to several typical back-to-school purchases, including jewelry, backpacks, school supplies, and sports gear. Clothing items priced over $100 are also excluded. Local business owners, like Lisa Brislawn of LaLa B’s Boutique, are taking advantage of the holiday to boost sales, although some express concerns about the policy's long-term impact on tax rates.
