The Chinese spies impersonate think tanks, private consultancies, and HR firms, offering positions such as foreign policy and defense analysts. The aim is to pressure candidates into revealing classified or privileged information. The alert was issued by intelligence agencies from the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. The strategy seeks to establish long-term relationships with individuals who have security clearance or indirect access to government information.
