Trial Begins for Alleged Killers of Australian and U.S. Surfers in Mexico
The trial has commenced in Mexico for the suspected murderers of two Australian surfers, Jake and Callum Robinson, and their American friend, Jack Carter Rhoad. The three men were on a surfing trip to Mexico's Pacific coast in April 2024 when they were attacked and shot dead in Baja California state. Their bodies were discovered in a cliff-top shaft days after they went missing, each bearing gunshot wounds to the head. Authorities allege the murders occurred during an attempt to steal their pickup truck, which was later found burned. The parents of the Robinson brothers, Debra and Martin Robinson, traveled to Ensenada for the start of the proceedings, expressing their desire to understand what happened and why. Three men are currently on trial for their involvement in the killings. One of the accused's girlfriends was previously sentenced to 20 years in prison after admitting she instigated the robbery to steal the pickup's tires.
