Melbourne Airport Achieves Record International Passenger Numbers Amid Global Disruptions
Melbourne Airport reported a record number of international travelers in March, with over one million passengers, despite disruptions from the Middle East conflict. This surpasses the previous record set in March 2025. The total number of travelers through the airport reached over 3.1 million, driven by events like the Melbourne Formula 1 Grand Prix. Domestic travel also saw a year-on-year increase of 5.9%. The airport's CEO, Lorie Argus, emphasized the need for continued investment in infrastructure, including a $4.5 billion expansion of the international terminal and the construction of a third runway to accommodate growing demand.
