FDA Issues Recall for Enoki Mushrooms Due to Listeria Contamination Risk
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a recall of enoki mushrooms sold in multiple states due to potential contamination with listeria monocytogenes. The recall affects two brands: IQ Enoki Mushrooms with code 'UI775' and HH Fresh Trading Enoki Mushrooms with code '4711498860002'. These products were sold in 150-gram bags, and the HH Fresh Trading mushrooms were distributed through local wholesalers in Florida and Texas. Consumers who purchased these mushrooms are advised to return them for a full refund. Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can cause serious illness, particularly in older adults, people with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women. Symptoms of listeria poisoning include fever, muscle aches, headache, and gastrointestinal issues, and it can lead to severe outcomes such as miscarriage or stillbirth.
