Former Morgantown Jewelry Store Owner Sentenced to Prison for Fraudulent Schemes
Lisa Morehead, the former owner of Masman Jewelers in Morgantown, West Virginia, has been sentenced to three to 30 years in prison for eight counts of felony fraudulent schemes. The sentencing took place in Monongalia County Circuit Judge Michael Simms’ courtroom. Judge Simms imposed three consecutive 1-10 year sentences, with the remaining five sentences to be served concurrently. In addition to the prison term, Morehead has been ordered to pay over $200,000 in restitution to her victims. Morehead was initially indicted on more than 20 counts of fraudulent schemes before ultimately accepting a plea agreement for the eight felony charges. One specific investigation detailed a victim consigning a Rolex watch valued at $13,000 to Masman Jewelers. Morehead paid the victim $2,000 of the $11,700 owed, failing to pay the remaining $9,700.
