Spain has been recognized as Europe's leading destination for international visitor spending, according to the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). In 2025, Spain generated $130.1 billion in international visitor spending, ranking third globally behind the United States and China. The country welcomed 96.8 million international visitors, with an average spend of $1,344 per visitor, surpassing the European average of $1,068. This achievement underscores Spain's position as a high-value travel destination, driven by government support, public-private collaboration, and investments in connectivity and infrastructure.
