SpaceX Launches 21 Missile-Tracking Satellites for SDA, Expanding Military Space Network
SpaceX successfully launched 21 satellites for the Space Development Agency (SDA) as part of the Tranche 1 Transport Layer E mission. This launch, conducted from Vandenberg Space Launch Complex 4E, is part of the Pentagon's Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture, which aims to enhance missile-tracking and data relay capabilities. The mission marks the third operational batch of satellites delivered for this network. In addition to this, the week saw other significant launches, including two Starlink missions and a Soyuz MS-29 mission to the International Space Station. The SDA also awarded a $1.75 billion contract to L3Harris and Sierra Space for the construction of 36 additional satellites, indicating a significant expansion of the missile-tracking constellation.
