Chinese Influencer Dies in Motorcycle Accident Weeks After Clearing Significant Family Debt
A 19-year-old Chinese influencer, known as Guang Sir on Douyin, died on August 15 following a motorcycle accident. His older sister announced the tragic news on social media, stating the accident occurred around noon the previous day. Reports indicate Guang Sir failed to slow down at an intersection and collided with a passing car. Just six hours prior, he had driven his sister to the train station. Despite doctors' efforts in the ICU, he succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of August 15. This incident occurred merely weeks after he publicly declared himself debt-free, having cleared approximately 3 million yuan (S$569,000) in family debt after years of hardship. His life was marked by a difficult childhood, including an abusive father and an earlier serious motorcycle accident that resulted in a spinal injury. He had dropped out of school at 14 to work and took on the responsibility of his family's debt, despite no legal obligation.
