Talbot Fire Forces Evacuations in Tahoe National Forest
The Talbot Fire, a wildfire burning in the Tahoe National Forest, has scorched approximately 75 acres as of Thursday morning, following initial reports of 16 acres on Tuesday. The fire broke out in Placer County near the Cedars community and is under investigation by CAL FIRE. Evacuation warnings have been issued for Talbot Fire Zone 1, urging residents, including those with pets or livestock, to prepare to leave immediately. Night-flying aircraft have been deployed to assist firefighting efforts, and authorities are closely monitoring the situation. Smoke from the fire is expected to impact surrounding areas, though the town of Truckee remains unaffected as of Wednesday night. The affected area includes Tahoe Cedars, a historic residential neighborhood on Lake Tahoe’s west shore in Tahoma, known for its cabins and mountain homes.
