LA-Area Juveniles Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit in Stolen Vehicle in East County
Two juveniles from the Los Angeles area were arrested in East County, San Diego, following a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle. The pursuit began when a sheriff's helicopter detected the stolen vehicle traveling eastbound on Interstate 8 from El Cajon. Despite attempts by deputies to stop the vehicle, the driver accelerated, reaching speeds over 100 mph. The chase continued with the vehicle exiting and re-entering the freeway. California Highway Patrol officers successfully deployed tire deflation devices, leading to the juveniles abandoning the vehicle and attempting to flee on foot. Both were apprehended and charged with evading a peace officer, auto theft, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
