UWM Scholarship Awards Increase by 50% Over Three Years
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) has seen a significant increase in scholarship awards over the past three years, with the number of students receiving scholarships rising from 33% to 46% and the total value of aid increasing from $20 million to $30 million. This growth is attributed to efforts by the Office of Student Scholarships to streamline the application process and better match students with available funds. The Nadella Scholarship, funded by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Anu Nadella, has played a crucial role in this expansion, providing full tuition and room and board for students pursuing tech education. Joshua Thaisananikone, a recipient of the Nadella Scholarship, highlights the transformative impact of such financial aid, which enabled him to graduate with a degree in computer science and pursue further education.
