Grady Health Adjusts Nursing Pay Due to Federal Funding Reductions
Grady Health officials in Atlanta have announced upcoming changes to how certain nursing hours are paid, effective in approximately one month. The health system confirmed that temporary 'block pay' for specific positions, which was initially increased to address staffing challenges, will be discontinued. However, Grady administration explicitly stated that nurses' base pay will not be reduced or decreased. Staff members were informed when this additional pay was first implemented that it was temporary, and they have now received 30 days' notice regarding the change. According to a Grady Health spokesperson, this adjustment is a direct consequence of reductions in federal healthcare funding, including the expiration of enhanced federal subsidies, which are creating significant financial pressures for health systems across the nation.
