Judge Questions DOJ's Attempt to Block Minnesota's Oil Industry Lawsuit
A federal judge has expressed skepticism regarding the Trump administration's attempt to halt Minnesota's lawsuit against ExxonMobil and other oil companies. The state of Minnesota has accused these companies of consumer deception related to climate change impacts. During a hearing in St. Paul, attorneys debated the Justice Department's motion for a preliminary injunction to stop Minnesota's case, arguing it infringes on federal authority. The DOJ's lawsuit against Minnesota, filed in May, contends that the state's legal actions against the fossil fuel industry should not proceed in state court.
