President Trump Withholds Endorsement in Texas Primary, Leaving Cornyn and Paxton in Limbo
President Donald Trump has refrained from endorsing either Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) or Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) in the Texas primary, despite having issued over 30 political endorsements recently. Cornyn expressed that he no longer expects an endorsement from Trump, stating, 'I think that ship has finally sailed.' Trump has previously indicated that he considers both candidates friends and is hesitant to choose between them. Early voting for the primary began on Monday, with the election day set for May 26. University of Houston pollster Mark P. Jones noted that while it would be typical for Trump to endorse before early voting, an endorsement could still occur up until election day.
